I have a miserable horse, grumpy, horse. Totally out of character. kicking out doenst want to work or interact. He doesnt want to be caught from the field either. In fact all he wants is to be out.

The only thing that has changed that I can think of is the grass is starting to come up.

Could it be that?

have heard ,cant remember where , so dont quote me , that when their coat changes they can be moody etc , one of ours is def "hormonal " at the mo and it's a gelding !

George gets a bit grumpy and sort of fed up looking when his coat changes in spring and Autumn, if nothing else it must be unbearably itchy - so maybe it's that? He does love it when I give him a good all over scratch with my hands though.

Is he hungry? ...sounds a silly question but although the grass is coming up and things are getting greener by the day, obviously it's not up yet (in most fields unless there well managed) and it could be that many people reduce the forage slightly (because spring is in the air or there getting a bit fresh) but in fact they are hungry, some horses get very grumpy if there not satisfied diet wise.

Could the appearance of spring grass have given him a sore tum?? Bruce often gets grumpy and grouchy...and farty....around this time because the grass gets richer.

agree with nikkimariet, although grass may not be very high, it is a lot richer, think burgundy instead of pinot grigot, so probaly sore tum. I would keep an eye just in case its turns to colic.
