I am desperately trying to stay positive but after makin the fatal mistake of googling I am now thinking the worst.

Background is that mare pulled right fore shoe off in field 3 weeks ago. Brought in and dry poulticed straight away. No signs of puncture wound or anything. Shoe found and all nails accounted for.

Was quite lame until shoe put back on. Was fine for a few days. Did short hack, lunged and then longer hack over next few days and a lesson. The only thing that showed up was that she was slightly off at the end of a lunge session so stopped. Fine next day on hack though did only walk.

Brought her out for another lesson day after hack and was quite lame on right fore.

Farrier came back out found nothing on either front foot. Thought looked more like right hind so took shoe of that aswell and found nothing.

Called vet who came few days later, at this point was about 2 weeks after losing shoe. Horse very lame in trot on right fore. Slightly noticeable in walk. She is now booked in for full lameness work up. Vet thinks is right fore and most probably in the foot and nothing anywhere else.

I am praying is some bruising taking its time to heal though would this cause her to become worse? Am dreading it being something more sinister :(

Thanks for reading if anybody has got this far x

I am in the same boat,
My horse is lame only during the trot in his left foreleg. Walks out fine with no problems. he isn't in any pain (i assume) as will happily try and trot and is quite happy and not distressed.
I have had his foot checked by the farrier praying for a corn, but no such thing was found. He has had a month off and after a steady few hacks only walking is still nodding while trotting.
I'm having a family friend who is a horsey expert take a look before i call the vet.
Please let me know how you get on!

The family friend was a HUGE help! Found out it wasn't the leg we thought he was lame on but his other foreleg and she found a small puncture at the back of the frog. So now he's being poulticed and is now very lame, so something must be happening? :/
So hopefully a week or two of this and some antibiotics and he should be ok, we hope.
Have you checked your boy for any abscess's? As I was certain mine was a sprained muscle but turned out not to be. Hope your getting on ok! The friend saved me a hefty vets bill!

If your horse is getting more lame then he needs to be seen by a vet (again?) asap. Hope the antibiotics were vet prescribed?
