Yesterday I pulled a loose shoe off my horse and cut my hand on one of the nails. It was a grubby, rusty nail and I immediately washed the cut with soap and water and then disinfectant when I got home. Today its a little tender so I've just pulled out the first aid kit, and scrubbed it clean (there were some black bits in it)
I have an autoimmune disease so pick up infections quickly so will go straight to the doctors at the first sign of infection.

Do you think it will be OK?

I dont know to be honest. I doubt it. Im almost 29 so im guessing my last one would have been when I was at school? How long do they last?

I think with Tetanus once you had the one at school they wouldn't give you a booster in another 10 years but instead I think they just give you a tetanus jab if you have an injury that would put you at risk

Defo go to the doctors!

If I was you I would get it checked out, especially with your illness. I did the same about a month ago, now have a nice scar and it still hurts to the touch. However, I never went to the doctor and still worry that I should of done!! At least my tetanus is up to date.

Definitely get a tetanus jab! Boots the chemist run minor injuries clinics depending where you live if you cant get to your GP. They gave my hubby a tetanus jab when he got a muddy football stud through his ear.

They don't even do that!! Last year I had a crush/tear injury to my little finger which involved a jagged cut almost to the bone. Went to A&E to have it put back together and told the Sister I hadn't had a booster in more than 10 years! She said: "Oh, I'm not worried about tetanus!" I said: "You obviously haven't nursed a tetanus case for a while" - and repeated that the injury was done by a horse's hoof. Still didn't get a tetanus booster!

Hi, I have an auto immune disease but have been told that unless i am in one of the at risk proffesions then I will not get a tet booster. As we are smallholders and I work outside all year they did give me one. They said that after the first few immunisations you did not need a booster as a precaution anymore.

However I hurt me leg last year and even though the skin wasnt broken I did end up with an infection so get it checked just to be sure
