Leave your horse somewhere and never visit them?

i've just realised that Blacky was abandoned even though her owner will not think so.

Her owner was "going through a bad time" which may have been true and Mossburn agreed to keep Blacky until she got her life sorted out.

3 years later and she's never even been to see her, not once! She was told she could visit her whenever she wanted and has provided no financial support whatsoever.

just thinking about it makes me mad as i know i could never do that. i know circumstances may have lead to her having to give Blacky up (although it wasn't supposed to be permanent), but i couldn't just not visit at all.

YO said to me on Sunday (what would you do if X came back to get Blacky) i was like "err, i wouldn't let her have her" and YO was like "neither would i"

It's actually easier to not go visit in situations like this sometimes.
I havent abandoned my horse by any stretch of the imagination but I dont go and visit him as it just makes me too upset to leave him again. Ok so he has only been away for a few months but tbh, if I knew he was being well looked after and was useful to somebody, I would be quite happy leaving him there.

Yeah but she said she would pay for her and it was agreed she was only staying for a while.
i suppose i've just thought of it this way - she actually abandoned her, it's not about where she is, it's just the thought that noone wanted her. she's the best pony ever (in my eyes

i dread to think what she would have done with her if Mossburn hadn't taken her

We have a woman who owns 4 horses at my yard, there all on working livery (well one is retired) and she comes up and rides one every now and again and she's happy, if she can afford it fine! as long as the horse is looked after. I think some people are just like that

Sure are a livery owners dream, full livery, working livery and barely ride themselves!
