couldnt believe my eyes. the stupidity of some people!

finished down the yard aound 6:30 and it was dark by then. just turning out the lane and i can see something yellow, looked like someone walking a dog, untill a car with headlights on came up behind them. it was a girl riding her pony with a girl walking beside!! :O rider was wearing just a tabbard and walker was in black clothes! i waited for them to come to the junction and asked how far she had to go. she said just up the road. i said do you want me to follow you with my headlights. im worried youl get hit up on this corner, i could barley see you, if you want she said :O i followed her with my hazards on. she said thankyou. she couldnt be anymore than 13-14. so so silly! these are national speed limit country roads! my friends horse was killed last september in broad daylight! people just dont get it! whats so hard about wearing hi viz!! really frustrates me!!
 
I remember being in the car with my parent going to the tack shop about 13 years ago. It was foggy and I rember just seeing a really bright yellow blob in the road. As we got closure, I realised that is was a girl on a grey pony. Had she not have been a tabbard and the horse a hi viz exercise sheet then there is no way they would have been seen until possibly too late.

we were on our way to the tack shop to shop for my 16th birthday presents. As a result of what I saw on the way there, I asked my parent for a hi viz kit. Ever since that day, me and my pony have worn it!

Sixteen years ago, it wasnt the done thing (at my yard anyway) to wear hi viz but I stuck it out despite the comments and now those people too are wearing it.

Why do things have to become fashionable for people to wear them?? There should be no question when it comes to safety. You either value your life and your horses (or thoise who dont see you until its too late) or you dont???

If we want drivers to respect us then we shouldnt give them reason not to!
 
Its not cool. Apparently! But a dead horse isnt that cool either. I see loads of riders without it in daylight. In the dark you need hi-vis AND lights. IMO You must be short of a few brain cells if you ride at any time without hi-vis
