Going to Charlton Park with William this weekend for his second Novice, staying Saturday night as it's quite a long way for him in a day if the traffic's bad.
Haven't heard anything about my stable yet, have rung the stabling lady numerous times but to no avail, I was billed though when I did my entry. Was going to stay with my old employers that night, but they are away, and although happy to let us borrow their house we have a transport logistics problem and we can't actually get there. So in an hour or so I am going to have to convince OH (who thinks my lorry is a dump) that camping in it will be great fun!
Also today the tack room alarm system decided to go on the blink. And shut everything in. Faced with the prospect of some lively horses and no dressage practice I bravely got on the pregnant advanced mare first, wearing nowt but a headcoller with two leadropes, and proceeded to do half pass, shoulder in, nice halts etc! Was so pleased with her, she was "on the bit", relatively comfy and only bucked twice which I quickly put an end to! Then I felt brave and decided to get on William. Made a bit more effort and found a headpiece (with no throat lash or browband) two cheekpieces and a bit in the lorry and got on him! He too was good! Only one buck! Not nearly as comfy as deco though and I had to be bloody careful with my half halts as he reacted much quicker to any bum-clenching than normal, but I only had one uncomfortable crunch on to his wither! Ran through the test a couple of times, practiced our free walk on a long rein, and left it at that.
Fortunately the alarm was sorted out at about 4, so tomorrow will be back to normal..... well as normal as it ever is!
Oh, my times are Sat dr 1610, Sun 0920 and 1020 if anyone is around.
