in england they all talk about 'county' standard horses and ponies for showing. here in northern ireland all we have is county shows! is there many local shows in england?
lol it feels so good to have a 'county' standard pony....

Yep, it's mainly "local" shows here - many organised by riding clubs, hunts, equestrian centres etc - they vary from very small and informal, to 6+ rings with qualifiers for various smaller societies. The next step up are agricultural shows (think county show with fewer stalls and mainly focused on rural persuits/animals), and bigger horse only shows that hold major qualifiers. Finally there are county shows.

Usually a county standard horse is one that can do well in the major qualifying classes (for HOYS/RIHS/Olympia).
