Hello, planning to take my lad out for the second time, on boxing day, provided I don't blow every last penny on Christmas presents! Murphy likes to make sure everyone knows he is there by spending much of the day on his hind legs, much to my embarrassment. So going to do my best to look the part in the hope people will forgive us.

I do have a tweed jacket, I think it is more correct to be in tweed than a show jacket but as my tweed is a little on the small side I think we would look smarter in plain black show jacket? Also intend to wear long black boots, spurs, off white breeches, cream stock, brown whip and a black hat silk. Then he will be in brown bridle, 5 point breast plate and jumping saddle with brown numnah and with the neatest plaits I can manage.

So like this with the addition of black jacket, breastplate, hunter clip and a hip flask?

Does this all sound right to you all? And please could you remind me of any basic manners? Am I right in thinking it would be good manners to ring the secretary to check it is okay to come along and find out how a days tab is?

Mulled wine and a mince pie for anyone that gets through all that, thanks in advance :D

Hello! Yes that's right, check with the sec, and your planned track and dress is right too.

If he's likely to go up, try keeping him busy, walking circles and listening to you, that way he shouldn't have opportunity to go up! :)

Have a good day and let us know how you get on!

Have PM'd you.
If you are going to one meet in particular there are often loads of kids in sweatshirts, anoraks etc on hairy unclipped, unplaited pony's! So you may be considerably over dressed ;)

Jrp204 could you pm me too?! I'd be so grateful for any tips, starting to feel the nervous excitement already & there's a whole week to go!!

I'd just add that if it turns cold again after Christmas then you might be warmer in the tweed than the show jacket. Unless you really can't squeeze any layers on under the tweed!

Have a great time.
