i put (kennels) in the title incase you thought it was in the wrong place...

but is it just me? im really cross with DHL.

we live rurally and i have a postbox at my gate, next to this is a wooden box for parcels. Whenever i order anything i say "if out please leave in wooden box at gate" its very obvious, its a proper large postbox type thing.

anyway, i was sat having a cuppa earlier and heard all my dogs going berserk... went out to kennels, which are within a small barn building, the main door was padlocked as always but the side door was unlocked as i was at home. I went in to fine DHL had gone in there and left a parcel!! I hadnt heard anyone at my door and the dog in the house would have gone mad barking if anyone had knocked.

I feel really angry and concerned that they would go in a private building like that! Often my horse is tied up in there too!!! I am protective of my dogs and I hate them being upset at a stranger appearing in there!

any thoughts on this?

Grab him next time and explain and put a lock on your side gate. Horses get stolen around here quite often.
I wouldnt go into a barn with all those dogs barking :P

Ditto, I am surprised he went in there! I recently put a very small and discreet 'beware of the dog - please close the gate' sign on our front gate and now I see big butch delivery men dithering out in the road about whether to come through or not (despite it being a tiny bare frontage with obviously no dog in it, I only put the sign up so people don't leave the gate swinging). :o

Do you have a sign saying 'parcels' on the box? Think you might have to make it very obvious for them. :p

i think what's happenened is they've started barking as he opened the door and he's thrown the parcel in:rolleyes: honestly as soon as i was out there i went out into the road to see if i could see him but he must have been in a hurry - no sign of the van anywhere! IVe made a sign and stuck it on the box to make it more obvious, that says 'parcels' and ive stuck a notice on the barn door saying "warning , do not enter, animals".

thought i should update this to say that the manager from the local depot actually rang me back!

He was very apologetic and I explained my concerns and what had happened. He assured me the drivers should only be opening doors if left instructions to "leave in shed" etc and that he would be speaking to the driver personally and telling him not to do this in future if delivering to me and to use my parcel box. Have to say I didnt expect to hear anything back from them so I do feel better about it now.

My friend's GSD was kept in the garage, she ordered some new shoes, and specifically said don't go in the garage cos there's a big dog, where did he leave them ???

In the garage

What happened to the shoes ??

Got chewed up and spat out with satisfaction by said GSD ha ha

Company sent replacements and didn't charge
