I bought a saddle on e-bay........... and selected and paid for (promptly!!! i.e. 5 mins after the auction had ended) "Special Delivery" by Royal Fail which was more expensive.

The "expected time of delivery" was given as 1pm yesterday. So I took time off to wait in for the delivery. Am self employed so not a huge problem, BUT pretty flippin annoying when after waiting around all flippin day the item failed to materialise!!!

I had a similar problem with another e-bay item; this time it was Parcel-Farce. Again, I paid for, and expected, the item to be here by premium delivery, in the end it took 10 days :(

Sorry, just sitting here waiting for my item and feeling need to vent a rant.......... have contacted the seller (not her fault). But from previous difficulty apparently the seller is the one who has to chase it up.

Anyone know any good couriers who actually get the stuff out as promised (and paid for:() ON TIME???? I've got some items to sell on e-bay and would value people's experiences.

I WANT my saddle and I want it NOW!!!!

Ggggrrrrrhhhhh!!! :(

It purely depends on the courier and driver in your area I'm afraid. I have has a s*** Hermes delivery, and I also had another Hermes delivery where the driver put himself out to deliver.

Was this ebays estimated delivery time? If it is then that is based on the information given by the seller re postage method. It would be advisable to contact the seller to see exact time of despatch and to get the tracking code once the item is sent so you can find out where it is

Didn't you get a tracking number for the special delivery?

I buy and sell frequently and not once had a problem with Royal Mail not delivering on time, there have been times when items I've ordered have turned up later than expected but when I investigated it turned out the seller was telling porkies about the date they posted.

I send out using a range of different couriers, usually Royal Mail/DHL is the most expensive option. Only courier I wouldn't recommend is Yodel but that is region specific.

Depending on the size and weight of what you're sending, Collect Plus is really good. There's the option to deliver to a local shop instead so no waiting in for deliveries :)

Now you know why so many people use couriers, not the ordinary post. I bought something from Ebay, and rather than Royal Mail it came to me by Parcel Force. Generally if I'm not in and something needs a signature, they go to my local sorting office which is open until 6pm so I can JUST get there on my way home from work. This one though, oh joy, went to my local subpostoffice - which closes at 5pm so I had to wait nearly a week before I could get my hands on it :(

On the plus side I hadn't noticed on another Ebay purchase that it was coming by one of the smaller couriers (Hermes possibly) so they left a card and said they would try again the next day unless I gave an alternative address. Sometimes I have things delivered at work, but on this occasion I asked the chap to deliver to my next door neighbour and straight away, he said oh, that's Mrs S. I was rather surprised and then said, please give her time to get to the door and he said, yes I know she is elderly. Blimey, now that's what I call service!

Oh I'm having the same problem with Royal Mail & Sky 😠 ordered a new sky Hub box, got a message from RM saying it had been delivered (but it hadn't) rang sky who said I had to sort it with RM, they said Sky had to sort it. Now can't get through to soddin Sky. Bloomin hate Royal Mail!!!

They are not called parcel farce for nothing, my record stands at a 48 HOUR DELIVERY which took 6 weeks to deliver (new stock so needed by me for my business) , they lied saying they had tried to deliver twice. NO I was in all the time as I work at home, I think they lost the parcel in their depot but didn't want to admit it. I got my parcel the next day after I threatened to sue them.

I use Hernes and I have a good delivery and pick up lady driver who's very good and goes the extra mile for her customers, we have a local drop off point too so it's even cheaper. I send over 100 parcels a year with Hermes, never had any problems and I only use them for larger parcels.

I always send items out using ipostparcels.com (UK Mail) or if a large item DPD.
They have never let me down (quickly finding some wood to touch) and certainly all the stuff I've sent out recently using the former has got to its destination within 1-2 days as opposed to their stated 2-3 days.
I'm a happy customer and my buyers are happy too.

Never use RM or PF as too expensive.

Recently purchased a saddle via Preloved and it was sent via MyHermes - did have my doubts after reading various reviews - but it did arrive on time and was trackable via the website.

I think MyHermes completely depends on who your local delivery driver is as to how good the service is.
