Can anyone recommend a good course? I'm not in a rush and I'm willing to pay. I've seen a diploma in canine behaviour but I'm sure there are others too. Thanks :)

For anything good, you will have to pay! :)

Are you looking for full-time, part-time or distance learning?

Also, what is the long-term objective that you wish to fulfil?

Moreton Morrell and Bishop Burton both used to have semi-decent canine behavioural courses (c10 years ago), with decent tutors - haven't checked out who is delivering them nowadays.

Definitely, I re-read my message and it was supposed to say I'm prepared to pay whatever a decent course costs.

My objective is to run a dog day care business in my home, very small scale initially. Longer term (and with more training) I would like to add on some training classes and possibly other training such as canine first aid courses. I'm not setting out to make a fortune, just pay for my animals and a bit extra. I have a life of experience of dogs and lots of exposure to training (basic obedience, mostly agility). I know dogs in practice but feel it would really benefit me to have some theory added to grow and expand the basis I have. I want to do a decent job of it :)

I need the course to be mostly if not all based online, although I could probably afford a day a week away from home if need be.

Thanks for the recommendations, I'll have a look today.

It sounds overkill for the purpose I want it but I'm interested in dog behaviour anyway and would like to improve the way I train and understand my own dogs.

Wow, that was long! I hope you're not bored! 😉

http://www.coape.co.uk/ - I did one of theirs many years ago and it was well worth while. It was a long residential weekend, and the instructors were working behaviourists rather than theorists, people like Peter Neville and the late lamented John Fisher. Not sure if he still does but John Rogerson did some courses at his place in the NE, and he is/was one of the very best. Southampton University do a modular degree course, mega bucks though - depends on what level you want to attain. A bit like horses, on line courses are a bit of a problem as the whole subject is essentially practical, there may be more these days though.
