hi basically i know a horse which the vet has said it was cow hocked when it was born and should have been sorted out. to compensate the horse has been putting more weight on front legs and its knees are now week. theres a few more detailes but i cant remember but apparently its in pain and has been all its life and maybe considering putting it down.
i used to own this horse and never had any problems! passed a 5 stage vetting never lame in 3 years and did dressage jumping x country!
what do you think ?
a few months ago the horse fell over and one side was really badly swollen and leg was bleeding and it was just put out in the field to recover it was obviosily lame.
this horse is also a warm blood
any ideas??

Sounds like they need a second opinion to me, if they horse was so bad from a foal it wouldn't have passed a 5* vetting or jumped etc.

And how exactly do they 'sort out' cow hocks?! As far as i'm aware its just a conformation fault, unless its severe, but if it was the horse would have been lame since birth.

This fall sounds a bit suspicious to me, sounds like something is underlying from that & why on earth was it just shoved out in the field?!

Yes that's what I thought. He is a warmblood and he's just been living out and every time he's had an injury he's just been turned out to 'walk it off' I don't want to interVene to much cos he's not mine any more but it doesn't all go together if you get what I mean. He was also born into a professional stud so surely if he was so badly cow hocked they would off sorted it?
