seeing Youle_C's post reminded me that i didn't update about Smooch's western training thing!

i tried the rein back thing (where you sort of lean back and ask them to back up but on a loose rein) and he did it straight away! which is strange because he doesn't know how to back up if you ask normally

i'm tempted to try him in a western bridle, but i'm worried about using those bits with huge shanks... he's so soft mouthed, barely have to touch the rein, even in a french link...

oh,you do western too?.i`m going to start off in my snaffle(french link) on the bridle and see how we go.

So why use bits with huge shanks if you don't want to?You can learn Western Riding with a snaffle (Some even do it in just a one rein and a halter

no, i don't do western

i just ended up with a rescue horse who turns out is trained in it xD

the lady who i have just got my saddle from said that she had a spot.
