I have a TB cross Cob mare who is rising 3 years old. I bought her in from the field just over a month ago to find a swelling on the side of her leg. She wasnt lame so I put her back out and it went down by itself...

I bought her back in a couple of weeks ago to start some very light lunging and noticed that her leg had come back up again after 10 mins or so of work. I called the vets to come the following day and her leg was VERY swollen the next day. By the time the vets came it had gone back down to the same lump that I originally saw.

We've now had x rays done. It appears that she has a horizontal crack across her cannon bone but the vets wanted another opinion as the lump on the outside of her leg is strange. Size of half a tennis ball over her splint bone?! X rays are going to Liverpool but i'm worried.

My mare has been stabled for 2 weeks now and nothing has changed and i'm still waiting to hear back.

Does anyone know what this lump could be?? If it was just a small crack in the bone then I can box rest her for as long as I need to but something else doesnt seem right....... HELP!
