My horse pulled his shoe off yesterday, but unfortunately he pulled half his hoof wall off too. Obviously im getting the farrier out as soon as i can, but what should i do in the meantime to stop him getting foot sore?
When my horse did something similar to this, I was advised to keep it nice and clean and prevent any infection/seedy toe from getting set in the exposed areas.
Hose or scrub clean daily, pick out any bits of grit with a farriers nail or something similar, (tub in salty water as often as possible) and spray with footmaster or something to kill any bugs.
