My 4 year old trotter has terriable clicking joints, he is not stiff or lame but they make a craking sound when he walks, trots. It sometimes sounds like it his stifle area and other times it sounds like it the top point of his hips. Has anyone else had a horse that clicks and cracks?

Yes my horse has always clicked on one leg since I had her at 4 years, she is now 11-it has never caused any issues and I have read that it isn't a soundness issue.

My horse developed this and it improved when I reduced the protein in his feed. He is 15.

It could also be the tendons snapping across the bone as he moves (I have clicky ankles which are not painful).

As he is so young, I would recommend looking at his diet and having a vet's opinion to be on the safe side and to avoid any possible problems in the future.
