When I perform neck stretches from the ground with my horse, her neck sometimes 'cracks' when she stretches to the left, is this alone something to be checked out? I'm also confused as when she is being ridden this is her most supple rein, can anyone clarify why this happens? I'm a little confused!

Thanksss

According to my chiro - if I've understood right - The joints in the body are pressurized and contain fluid with dissolved gases, and when the joint is manipulated these gases are rapidly released out of the fluid. Released gases create the popping sound. Within 20-30 minutes, the gases go back into the fluid.

As Eveylyn pointed out its to do with gas in the joints, my own chiro has told me that before. My equine McTimoney chiropractor used to press certain points on my old horse to encourage him to flex his spine up and down and the noises that came out were horrendous!
