cramp oweeeee!

Our middle aged lurcher laddy is getting cramps. Hes a very long in the body lanky fella and I think this is contributing now hes getting on a bit ***whispers in case he hears!***** Anywhoo is there anything nutritional that can help or do we just keep him as active as normal and just keep an eye on him. Any comments gratefully recieved

Not heard of it before. Maybe the vet can do tests to find out why its happening. Not sure if its the same in dogs but cramp in humans is cause by lack of salt. But salt isn't good for dogs so can't suggest anything to help him.
 
I think there are some supplements you can get to help this. It is quite a common problem in greyhounds and very occasionally one of mine will cramp. I would check with your vet on what type of supplements may help.
 
Cramp is attributable to the circulatory system within the body, you’re best bet in the first instance is to seek veterinary advice otherwise you will be inundated with old wives tales (some of which are absolutely fantastic and will no doubt work), if the advice or medication given by you’re vet does not work then by all means try other methods.
