I'm considering trying this for my headshaker, who has an undershot jaw and history of dental problems.

Has anyone tried this therapy, and if so was it successful?

Thanks

Not myself but Ive heard of a great recovery by a long term sick horse.
Success depends on the individual therapist, I believe.

Have a friend whose horse found craniosacral helpful with headshaking - important to get an experienced equine therapist though (as with so many things!) :)

I use one - she does Bowen/Cranial Sacral therapy.

I swear by it. My horse had long term (most of his life) unsoundness issues, and is now sound for the first time in the 4 1/2 yrs I have owned him.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her. However, I don't anything about headshaking.

Edited to add: I have had 6 weekly to 3 monthly physio (over 4 yrs), bone scan, nerve blocking, shiatsu, communicator, iridology (who recommended this therapist) and did zoopharmacognosy and essential oils - you name it, I have tried it!!

Thanks everyone, it looks like it might be worth a go.

Horse's physio was on the yard on Thursday and she showed me a couple of things to try, but very honestly said that this was more osteo than her field.

Can I ask lizzi2, Oberon and wetandmuddy for more info about your therapists.

I'm in East Anglia, so Hert05 suggestion is very helpful.

I use Julie Houghton and swear by her treatments. My horse was written off by vets after £6k of vet treatment as in they didn't know what was making him move like he did. One treatment from Julie of craniotomy sacral treatment and he was sorted!

My horse has craniotomy sacral treatments twice year to keep him moving correctly and we have the EBT treatments in between.

Our problems aren't head shaking problems but I do know she treats a head shaker that was a last resort or PTS but horse is now back to being ridden even in summer when horse was at its worst.

Her website is www.equinetherapyservices.co.uk

Hope you can get sorted.

def worth a try - my mare is a HS and has regular massage/EMRT/mctimony chiro - including round head etc - not exactly craniosacral therapy as no practitioner round here that i know of (she's also a v suspicious mare and suspect she'd not abide a new person touching her head - she knows her massage lady very well ;))
i'd also highly recommend bowen - made a HUGE difference to my mare - and also look at bridles - mine seems to really like her micklem bridle - its supposed to relieve pressure.
saying all the above - turns out my mare had a deep rooted sinus problem that came to a head this summer - streaming sinus's! cleared now but may still need an op - pretty sure it was the bowen that helped hte body to finally flush what was needed to releive the pressure
