has anyone got any good pictures of how they are supposed to look when done up properly and not to tight, or tell me how? New bridle has one on, and it really didnt look right last night.

It might look a bit odd because the leather is stiff and has not yet moulded. You should do it up tight enough for there to be no gaps or loose leather but loose enough to be able to get your finger under it easily.
