My two pups currently share a crate and we are debating whether they are getting too big to share it. What do you think? Please ignore the big white thing that tries to squeeze in every time we leave the door open - he is not supposed to be in there. Imagine he wasn't there - is the crate big enough?

Crate, crate u say, u need arresting, u clearly stuffed them in there, and there is some invisible barrier stopping them from getting out of thier own free will:rolleyes:
I think we need the whitey evicted to see better how the youngins fit in:p:D
I usually let some of mine share and they are not huge, they generally cuddle up anyway.
Suppose if they get any bigger u may need an upsize:D

As someone who was anti-crate I think that is proof that they do actually like them ;) I'm sure if dog number 4 could have fit in too he'd have been in. Maybe if I got a bigger crate I could force them all in and keep them in one place ;)

I'm anti crates myself, mine don't need them and I don't want them messing up my house...bloody hell the dogs having their own sofa is enough of a issue without having ugly metal things all over the place too!! But as long as the door is open it's just a ugly dog bed.;)

Sadly joking aside there are people who as with all things in life abuse a system that can and does work for alot of homes and dogs, that's the reason I don't like them..lack of education in why and how.

The dogs have their own room, so I just shut the door on them ;) I don't agree with dogs on the furniture - dog hair on the furniture is truly ugly ;)

it is always sits by the radiator how can the dogs move away when they get too hot.....................

The crate door is open  I live in the far north of Scotland and I have pointies - they never get too hot. Some night I actually put them in pyjamas too

if you replaced the crate with 2 dog beds you would still find them piled up together in one bed if they have always slept together, and as they are not shut in then they can move out if they fancy! but if it makes you feel and sleep better buy a bigger crate or 2 dog beds!!! if you shut them in for any length of time a bigger crate would be more comfortable for them.

Am I the only one who 'got' this post? Jeez, if they were uncomfortable with being in there at the same time with the door open, they wouldn't be in there in the first place :p
They look really miserable shut away in their cage :p

It's hard to tell, but it looks like the chocolate boy can't quite sit up without his head being against the top? So I reckon a slightly taller one might be good now? That was my yardstick when I got Henry's, anyway.

Put a blanket over them and they are great - my kitchen is really draughty, but Henry is snug in his little man cave:)

It would be more cruel if she took the crate away from the radiator:rolleyes:, they are skinnies after all:rolleyes: they are not called heat seekers for nothing, they will lie on a heat blanket till they are panting for dear life or sit ontop of the glass on a log burner and literally burn themselves:D

Some dogs need them, but agree with your sentiment I feel the same about kennels, stables, cars and rooms in houses (places where animals have been starved to death) but as u say its all about education:)

Mine tend not to chose the comfy beds instead they will squeeze into rescue dogs crates and leave the rather expensive leather beds with wolf hair sitting empty:rolleyes:

i've got picture proof of that - mine lie on the stone hearth rather than the comfy blanket I have for them. They get as close as they can. You can see them burning - they occasionally shake their heads at the heat. All of a sudden it becomes too much and they move away, slightly... Their heads are that hot they hurt to touch

Freddie had just turned over at this point - look at the red burn mark on his belly

Yup that's pure cruelty :p

Mori, the Staff x I grew up with, used to lie right up against the fire too. She wouldn't even move if a spark landed on her so we had to keep a close eye on her to make sure she didn't hurt herself.

We have crates around the house (doors open) and dog beds complete with comfy bedding, the bedding ends up outside with dogs crammed through choice in crates
