Is there anyone out there who is a foot follower of the Crawley and Horsham hunt?...

I have not been along to a hunt meeting before and am desperately keen to attend!

I was going to write a quick e-mail to the hunt secretary to introduce myself and queery about meets (I understand from reading various threads that this is an acceptable method of primary contact?!?)

My only issue is that my usual social group (though they are brilliant in every way!) are not horsey and so I don't have anyone to go with.

Would it be terribly embarrassing to show up alone and bemused? or is their somebody that would honour me with the favour of letting me tag along and provide me with the means on introductions to others without seeming like a member of the lost and lonely club?....

I would like to eventually work up to attending on horse back but I thought it would be a good idea to go on foot first to see whats. From what i've read on H&H Forums everyone seems quite friendly towards newcommers. Is this the case out in the field?...

Hi I think this is a lovely idea, the only note of caution I would say is that C&H have been the target of sabs and monitors for years and continue to get an awful lot of problems from them. They are also subject to court proceedings at the moment.

You may find that they are slightly suspicious of newcombers but it is only because of the awful treatment they have received over the years. They are a wonderful, friendly pack though underneath.

Thank you. I have now sent an e-mail to the hunt secretary so hopefully I will hear back from him/her soon. I do remember reading something recently about the pack and a court case but I didn't realise it was in relation to sabs! That just awful!
Well I suppose all I can do is keep trying to show that I'm keen if they seem anxious of me. I hope it doesn't hinder my chances of getting involved. But I'm glad that you think they're a lovely group!!! I'll keep trying!

I hunt regularly with the C&H and have been a member for years. It is a wonderful hunt with lovely, friendly people - do PM me if you have any questions!
