hi all,
My partner has a 'special' birthday coming up in February and one of his bucket-list activities is that he wants to ride a racehorse at a gallop.

Crazy I know! Especially given that he's not a rider (did it many years ago as a child), he's happy to do a shortish training course but doesn't want to spend weeks/months on end training (which is realistically what I'd recommend to do this type of thing).

I've offered to let him ride my warm-blood, but he doesn't think it would be the same.

Does anyone know of anywhere in the UK that would be mad enough to let him do this?

Thanks for any assistance.

I doubt anyone from of business with a reputation will let you do this, the health and safety issues for letting a novice on a racehorse alone would be astronomical. Letting him go loose at a gallop is an entirely different ball game.
You might find someone privately that may let him but good luck finding that someone, I certainly wouldn't let a novice gallop my horses.

Sorry to sound harsh! I just think its very far fetched and if he can settle for it, id suggest getting him on your horse with a few lessons then trusting him if your horse is safe and he knows the risks.

Either way, good luck and welcome to the forum!

We will do a short and intensive training course - but we are very busy so you may miss the birthday by the time you've booked in. Google Park Farm Riding School, Oakley, Hampshire.

Thanks for your reply, believe me I'm of the same opinion myself, horse riding is a dangerous sport (for both horse and rider) but thought I'd just put it out there in case there was somewhere that ran a condensed jockey course of some sort, so that he could do some training and then try it out..

many thanks for your help, I do appreciate it.. I'll have to get my thinking cap on to try and come up with something else for his birthday.
