My hose is starting to improve on the flat - he's going much differently that to how he was going about 4 weeks ago, although dressage tonight may tell me otherwise

. Main problem is his right rein work though as he has a tendency to push his shoulder out and hold himself like this, and so has no true bend to the right. He is a little tight through his left side and finds is hard to strike off a right canter lead without running (though he is improving), and a combination of the improper bend and tightness is creating 'bridle lameness' in his right trot. His left rein work is lovely, and he takes a much more even contact in his right canter, but in the trot work, he is so heavy in the left contact that there is nothing in my right hand.

Any suggestions on how to correct it would be greatly appreciated, thankyou

Assuming all the normal checks have been done (teeth, saddle, back etc) I would have the rider videoed first and analyse riding on both reins first as a lot of one sideness in a horse comes from misaligned pelvis/shoulders in the rider.
Once that is sorted and you know your seat is not a problem I would then sort the responsiveness to your legs (not just forward but most of all as a lateral/bending aid), especially inside leg as that's where the bend and acceptance of the outside contact should really be coming from.

Work on the rhythm of your trot and general suppleness as without these two your contact will always be on-off.
You could also try to improve his general athleticism by lunging on a chambon (promotes stretching to both reins equally, is gentle and instantly rewarding to the horse).
