As some of you know i have had my ups and downs with my mare bolting, trotting so fast i cant even rise to it etc etc
Well, as i am so quick to put her down i thought i would let you know how proud i am of my mare. After she bolted in March ( and other behavioural problems) i was told to pts or retire her - could no longer ride out as the liveries would not ride with me (she is very forward going) I decided to retire her then when i saw her in the field i figured it would be such a waste sent her to schooling livery(she was only 12)
The yard i sent her to had no problems with her at all and in fact she was the quietest on the yard so i decided to start riding her again with the trainers help! To cut a long story short she was brilliant but unfortunately the yard had to move further afield and we had to move her somewhere closer. It has been 2 monthe since we moved now and she is a beautiful girl once again and i cant help thinking the first yard we were at she just hated as she would never go in the stable, bolted everywhere knocked past and bit people ( we were there 18 months)! If you saw her now you wouldnt believe she is the same horse - i am riding out on my own again and getting to grips with schooling! I just wanted to tell people my story so you dont give up on your best freind! xx:) thanks to evryone who has helped me thru x

Its fantastic to hear and I can appreciate how your feeling as I had the same thing.
Around this time last year I moved to a yard closer to home. My mare instantly became a raging bull who was a nightmare to handle on the ground and a lunatic to ride. She never bolted (thank god) but she would launch and buck, huge powerful ones at that. she became aggressive and very very spooky. I didn't know what to do with her, Im a capable enough rider, horses were my career as well as my hobby and there I was with a horse that gave me huge butterflies every time I got on her as the slightest thing would set her off like a mad bronco.
I visited my old yard a lot as I was still friends with them all. And I was talking to the YO and YM saying how unhappy we were, how my horse had a reputation as being mental and how everyone was so scared of her and things there were getting rather nasty, and my daughter just came out with the solution...she said can we come home?
So the next week we were back at the old yard and the second my horse stepped off the ramp I watched her instantly relax and she was once again my horse. We have been back for seven weeks now, she has never put a foot wrong, she is a dream to handle, the kids can go catch her and swarm round her and she stands relaxed and still, we hack out most days on our own and she is fantastic, even today she walked past a man using a power saw fixing some fencing, she looked, flicked her ear and wandered past.
Its a longer drive, and is a more expensive yard, but it is worth it to see her back to herself again.

Councillor,
This is exactly what she was like when a child went near her i was petrified everybody hated her and was afraid of her! Now she is a dream just for changing yards - certainly makes you wonder doesnt it!
Many thanks to everyone who has replied :)

they are two beautiful stories :') gave me shivers down my spine! just proves how complex these animals really are and brings home how much respect they deserve and that we should really listen to our animals!

Great to hear! They are such creatures of comfort. My horse has been in the same home for 5 years now and a very settled chap. The yard before where we were for 2 years he was the bottom of the herd, constantly being beaten up etc etc. I had minor problems with him when riding but they went within weeks of moving yards.
