Hi all I'm new to this. But I was wondering if anyone had any tips for getting rid of cresty necks. My pony is 12.2 and has a cresty neck. He is on free step Superfix to help with it but I was wondering if anyone had tips with exercising him, to help it! His neck is much better than what it was but I need to try and get it off him. All answers will be greatly appreciated and taken into consideration.
Many thanks :)

Diet and exercise, as in very little of the former and lots of the latter! There isn't anything specific you can do that will specifically target the top of the neck as this is mostly fat, so feed him the minimum you can and ride or drive him lots.

The only thing that will help is weight loss (or if the pony has a medical condition such as ems or cushings getting that under control)

If it was a late cut stallion however, they sometimes won't loose the crest.

It's restricted diet and exercise exercise exercise .
Fatty had a horrible neck when he arrived it took three years to get it from fatty crest to proper horse it work neck .

Unfortunatly cresty necks are hard to get rid of once formed.
Theres only one way to get rid IMO after speaking to various nutritionists and vets in the past!
You should aim for your pony to have a body condition score of 3 (out of 5). In order to get rid of the cresty neck your pony will need to have a BCS of 2-2.5 to use this fat, before being allowed to get to the correct 3 again.

The blue corss has a page on this somewhere, if you can find it, that explains this ^ much better :)

Good luck!

Thank you all for your comments. My pony is on a strict diet where all the sugar has been take out of it. He gets exercised every day whether it's lunging/schooling/hacking. He has already dropped around 30kg. Just want him back to normal and without a wobbly neck!!
I have been told by others to work him with his head low does this help?
