I ride a Welsh section C for someone and she is a bit on the fat side (Was obese but now lost weight!) She's still got a big crest but I can now feel her ribs.

Any ideas how to get the weight off her?

I school and hack her, we don't jump very often. She's ridden at least 3 times a week and will be ridden more now we have the light nights

How old is the pony? it sounds like she could have metabolic issues I would get her tested for ems and cushings cresty neck and being ribby can be a sign it's not normal if she has an underlying issue you will struggle to get the weight off without medication and she is at risk of getting laminitis.

She has been tested and it came back saying she has cushings. She's on medication

When her cushings is under control the crest will reduce on its own with sensible management. You will always need to be careful with her diet and workload but at 13 you have caught it early which is good.

Okay thankyou, before i got her she had been out of work 6 months. She was also in a field with a muck heap and she ate it (no problems with her gut, she's always done it) she has now moved fields so the weight has been coming off her quicker xx
