So Ruby has been in 24/7 for a month now, and bless her heart for a fit 5 year old to stabled and a 5 min walk each day she’s been a saint. However she started to chew a couple of the beams and lick/bit some of the bricks in her stable, therefore i cribox'ed the worst areas in the hope it would deter her from doing it.

But no - she loves it!!! I find the areas where I have done it are wet and look like she has been licking everything that iv smothered in cribox her mouth is all sticky, the neck of her rug is covered in it (this is a mystery - basically she would never get away with murder!!)

But it got me thinking, if she licks/chews all the spots where iv put a very generous helping of cribox, is it actually going to do her any harm? She’s drinking a bit more than usual, however i can’t think that cribox tastes that nice.. And also what else can i do to stop her from licking/chewing everything?! She has treat balls, handing Swede’s, rolling Swede’s and a dodecahedron thing in the daytime..

I can only hope the vet brings some good news (if he can get here) on Wednesday and she can go out at the weekend!!

Bailey hot chocolate if you got this far..

The horse in question.

I don't know - but your horse seems to have gloves on her ears......!

I can't think it would harm her, but I got a bit on my hands when I was painting it on the gateposts the other week and then it got onto my lips somehow and it tastes vile! Reminded me of the stuff my mum once put on my thumb to stop me sucking it when I was little - I was so sick and so upset that she never did it again!

You appear to have a reindeer!

Cribox doesn't work, stop using it! It's not harmful, just doesn't taste nice. If you want to stop it in its tracks, water down a bit of fresh poo in a bucket and paint it on the offending areas. Works straight away, though you will have to re-apply after a short while.

She is a very convenient glove warmer! Ar ok thankyou hannahmurphy I will try that if it continues!!

Oh my god I'm so glad someone else's horse loves the stuff too!! I coated my mares (wooden) stable in it and she went into a crazed frenzy and couldn't get enough of it  Lesson learnt!
The only thing I've found to distract her is an endless supply of likits :o - sorry, not much help!
(ps - your reindeer is gorgeous!) x

The only issue with likits is she will get through one in a matter of minutes!! Hence te swede .. But I think she's going off of them, which is slightly annoying as they are cheap as chips compared to a likit ..
