crikey moses holy moly!!!!

I know it's just a snapshot and I know I am Miss Laminitis this week (obsessed) but it looks porky with a laminitics stance on that specific pic (covers backside)

I would suspect it has HYPP
As a comparison, this horse has confirmed HYPP

hmm, what you have there is a halter quarter horse..

which often look more like a beef cow on narrow stilts..

pixiebee, if you google HYPP then you will find out about it, it tends to be inherited with the 'big muscle' trait in horses with 'Impressive' iirc in their background. It is sad because it could easily be eliminated from the population if people stopped breeding horses with it and carriers.

ooh never heard of that?

It's mainly in Quarter Horses or horses bred out from them and the very prevalent stallion Impressive. it causes period of uncontrollable muscle twitching, weakness, tremors etc, and in severe attacks collapse and death. Sadly some people have no problem breeding horses they know to carry the gene :(

pmp I think that might be the best example of 'post legs' you could wish for!

eta pixiebee that next link, under the stallions where is says HYPP N/H makes them a carrier not a sufferer, HYPP H/H would have the disease and HYPP N/N would be clear.

We have 4 QH all together all of which have Impressive (HYPP N/N though) and they don't look anything like that thankfully. HYPP positive QH look so awful, the pictures are terrible and it's shocking really that they breed them like it!

For anyone who doesn't know, those horses are just incredibly muscled. It's not a 'gutter bum' of fat as such, just lots and lots of muscle. Looks awful!

I think it is actually muscle. Part of the symptoms of HYPP (also known as Impressive syndrome), caused by the muscle twitching-it's like a built-in Slendertone.

It seems to be the grotesque over muscling (bit like a Belgian Blue) that makes them more attractive to fans of the type. Yuk.

Oh yeah, people can get HYPP too.
