Please be aware that there have been a number of rugs thefts, off horses in fields in the Swale area over the last few weeks. Plus a thefts of head-collars and lead ropes near Faversham.
Thefts of diesel is an ongoing problem so please make sure that you do not leave large amounts of fuel in the tanks of horseboxes, try to fuel up on the day if you have along journey.
I also have information that wheels and spare wheels from trailers have been stolen near to Canterbury over the past few months and earlier this year there were two thefts of breach and breast bars from Ifor Williams 505 Trailers in the Shepway area.

My plea to you at the mo is

- To postcode rugs and any equipment you may leave outside.,
- Paint your electric fence posts and energiser a bright fluorescent colour (thieves won't want bright green/pink items, they are not easy to sell!!)
- Make sure your tack is insured or if not locked in a very secure tackroom or taken home.
- Get horses freeze-marked/micro-chipped and property mark anything you feel is of value.
- Take photo's of your horses from all angles, make a note of any marks, scars, whorls etc.
- Make a note of any suspicious vehicle reg numbers and descriptions of people.
- Let other people know of suspicious incidents, this could stop a crime happening elsewhere.
- By taking simple steps it just helps to put a potential thief off stealing your property.

Send email details to me at 8733@kent.pnn.police.uk, this is a police address, or join me on Facebook under East Kent Horsewatch for regular updates and information bulletins.
