This is such bad news for all the dogs involved, the breeding dogs and the puppies that are likely to be a 10 minute wonder and then discarded with all their health problems. But to where, the rescues are full, and their owers will probably want a bit of money for them anyway, so they could be dumped or end up on Preloved and some may make their way into the dog fighting indstry ...
The ONLY way as I see it that this misery will stop is for the demand for the puppies to end. But sadly I believe it never will as there are people out there who will not care where the pup came from or where pup goes when they are tired of it.
I believe the puppies siezed in Ireland were actually bred in England and taken to Ireland for sale.
Those pups were from Ireland & seized on the way to the ferry.
While idiots want a cheap puppy & want it NOW this trade will continue.
There is no reason for anyone to buy a pet puppy without seeing where it is born and at least one parent -but I know of a puppy farm that produces an adult of the breed and that is mum or dad as window dressing!
What is needed is a ban on third party selling and application of the existing laws. It is already illegal to sell puppies in a public place without a pet shop licence.
As S4S says, the pups were bred in Ireland and were intercepted.
I've alluded to the fact that puppy farming is a money-spinner/place to hide money/linked to more nefarious practices/connected to more serious criminality in the past, glad to see I am not barking up the wrong tree, to pardon the pun.
