Ok, this is really a question for the dressage/flatwork people. Below is a picture of me & P in a showing class, now my question is in terms of way of going. I know that basic principle that the poll should be the highest point and in this pic I know P is slightly in front of the verticle.

My question is if you look at the shape of his neck and crest, how can he I get him to stay "on the bit" with his poll at the highest point?

Any ideas/tips???

His poll should be the highest point of the bone structure of his neck, so he looks ok to me as well.
You have to ignore the crest as this can be misleading

Handsome horse...but he looks quite wide in the jowl so probably will find it harder to go much rounder than this without affecting his breathing.
Obviously that's just my opinion based on one photo....
Remember that working in an outline comes from the hindquarters and the head and neck is just a reflection of what's happening behind.

Thanks Fairhill, I think that was problem, someone commented on the poll and I just couldn't understand how it could ever possible be the highest point for him with the shape of the neck.

Obviously I need to be thinking in terms of bone structure

Thank You!

I think he looks fine! My horse has a huge neck (see sig pic) and his poll is never the highest point! Has any one commented on the way he carries his head?

Someone just mentioned it to me but now I see where I was going wrong!

Thanks S
I think I know what everyone is coming from now in regards to the highest point

And in regards to hindquarters - maybe thats why my legs are said to be made of steel
