i like it.
very cheap though!

No room at the inn- got two new liveries coming in and he'll have to be kicked out at night if he isnt sold pronto!!

I like the wording but photos could be better though. The two flatworks ones are dark, particularly the last one, and the conformation pic would be better if he wasn't turning his head towards the camera which isn't particularly flattering.

I'd tend to be all paranoid and say "Really nice horse -so why so cheap?" and ONO at that, which can make the seller look a bit desperate, whereas with a nice looking, well bred animal like that you would want the buyer to think you were doing them a favour.
Could you replace the 3rd (dark) piccie with one of the horse jumping , or cantering in open country, so it doesn't look too green? Nice & honest, but would be a pity for this honesty to work against you.
I would say that the big unanswered thing in this advert is - why has such a decent horse, owned by competent & competitive people, done so little at age 10 and is being sold so cheaply; "would make" a nice allrounder sounds too green for him at his age and I think you've got to somehow reassure suspicious punters on this.

[/ QUOTE ] I agree with that - if there is a genuine reason why he has done so little (ie owned by novice/non-competitive owner, previous injury etc) then might be best to state it, otherwise people will start to be suspicious.

It's a well worded ad and a good price... He'd be sold in a flash over here! IMO the photos aren't that great though, as you mention he has "a good jump" I'm sure a lot of people would like to see a photo of him jumping.

TBH tho, i dont think he is way off in price if you need him shifted quick and he has a few issues, especially this time of year.

[/ QUOTE ]

But does he have issues? Thats it; the ad sort of suggests to me that he does, although there's nothing there that really IS an issue.
My guess is that you're actually being honest too soon, & maybe this horse just isn't competitive enough for you or something like that, but the FEELING the ad gives me is that the seller hiding something- the horse is unmanageable out of walk, or has been off for years with mysterious illnesses. (I hasten to add that I really DON'T think this is the case; but I've had the benefit of seeing you in your other postings & the buyer will be judging just by the ad.).

QR. For a ten year old, that has not done anything, £2k is not cheap in my opinion, so that would not turn me off. I would try and get some brighter photos.

Do I get a fee for being used in an advert? He is lovely in the stable so would mention the normal about box, shoe and clip. Would maybe say in the advert no offers as this can look better that just £2k.
Would maybe consider saying lack of space is the only reason this genuine little horse is for sale.

I'm with you on this alleycat, he is a nice looking horse and yes, for a 10yo that hasn't done anything and doesn't hack alone I think 2K is about right.
However if I was to see the advert I would think there was something wrong. It would be so much better if you could take him to some local 2'6 and prelims and sell him as an allrounder rather than 'potential allrounder'

I think the best photo of the 3 is the conformation one, which as TGM said would be better if horse was not looking at camera. Other than that it's a really great pic.

The first ridden one I would prefer if the horse was tracking up in the walk (Ie showing a slightly different stage of the gait). This could show off the walk a bit. The third one I can't see much at all and a jumping shot would provide a good mix of pics (esp as you say in the add he has a good jump).

WRT the ad, I feel you have brought things into it - Like not good hacking alone - that you perhaps do not need to at this stage. Get the phone ringing, get people to see the horse and then they may cope with that kind of thing if they are interested?? Also, although you say he's been to PC rallies, seen hounds, etc, you don't specifically state how his ridden work/experience is. I'd push that forward a little more with some positive words.

Perhaps add no vices/totally sound and open to vet? Good to handle, box, shoe, clip, etc.

I'd change 'has see hounds'... I always tag on 'one, when he bloted in fear to the end of that. Not fair maybe, but that's what it makes me think.

Also, only the middle pic works for me.

Our little colt is by Carnaval Drum, I really like the look of your man. If we had the room, and I had the money I'de definetly snap him up!!

Nice honest advert, I'm sure you'll have no trouble selling him. I'm gutted I can't steal him!

Thanks everyone- have lightened the two ridden pics and will try to get a better one tomorrow but I find it so hard to get really good pics on my useless digi camera!!
Have had a couple of promising phone calls so fingers crossed he finds a nice new home soon

It's nice to see a horse realistically priced and not labelled as having 'potential' despite having done bugger all and is therefore supposedly worth 5k.

Having said last night that 10 was older than I was looking for...I like him!

Have to go back to work tomorrow, but if you haven't sold him by the weekend I'd quite like to come and have a look if your around?

you could of got better ridden pictures in my opinion, the 3rd picture looks as if the rider is standing up in her stirrups as she rises and isnt a very good picture to show its paces,

PMSL I quite agree...not the best photo's perhaps, but for a cheap horse, they are more than good enough. What more do you want to see for £2k? You can see all the raw potential there in the photos easily.

It is so difficult trying to get good photos! - found it impossible!
