Walked the course for tomorrow's hunter trial this aft, and there's one fence i'm a little worried about! It's literally a 'fence', as in post and rail. Should I 'showjump' it, as in very bouncy collected canter and let him get fairly close, or go for a long one?? I'm worried about letting him get TOO close and clipping it...
Eurgh i hate really vertically fences XC, they just put me out of my (already dubious

) rhythm

Sorry very stupid.
Thanks

You don't want to go too fast, I would show jump it a bit you don't want to get in very close but try not to take a long one! The main thing is sit up yourself so that if he does slightly tip the top or peck you are in a good balance to cope.

Otherwise just go and enjoy.

i know the fence your talking bout-i did not like it either-im in the novice class so thinking i may jump the stile part of it as it was smaller and not so upright!! im not keen on the hedge going back into the wood-dont like the rails being on the landing side!!

We had to jump a double of gates on an angle at a unaff comp - best way we were told by instructor was to bring them right back and showjump it
