Cross country boots for cob types legs.

I've got a welsh cross warmblood boy who I've started doing some riding club and intro eventing with this year. My question is does anyone know of some cross country boots that might be more likely to fit my boys leggies. He's got quite a lot of bone (not sure exactly) and his canon bones are quite short. All the boots I've tried up to now are either not wide enough and leave a big gap or are far too long. (We're fine with show jumping boots cos the elastic straps at the front make pony ones fit ok)

Does anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions?

My friend hunts her cobby dude in prolite event boots, they don't hold any water and don't get any mud up under them either.
He has got right chunky legs too!!

My middleweight ID mare with short legs wears medium-sized Prolites, she's fine in them. The straps are really long as well.

Great thanks. I haven't tried the prolite ones actually, just the NEW and woof versions. Was getting a bit tired of taking boots of various sizes back to saddlers.

I actally remember one of my friends has got some prolite cross country boots, just got to remember which friend so that I can have a fitting session. Hope they're the med size too as you suggested RachelB.

Tbh the large ones aren't all that different, we use large ones at work and I thought mine were the same until I looked at the label! They fit my horse anyway! TDS do them for about £5 cheaper than rrp online (rrp is about £50 front and £60 hind), or you can shop around and get them about £10 cheaper from what I have seen.

I love the prolite boots, they never move and offer fab protection. Do shop around they are expensive but worth it

I have Eskudron boots for my boy...he also has short cannon bones and a lot of bone on his legs...The Eskudron XC boots are good...they have the benefits of the normal tendon boots such as the flexi area behind the knee but instead of the two elastic straps have a complete cover bit which goes round the front of the cannon bone...they look really smart too!!!!

My 4 year old has 9'' bone and he has clarendon boots all round. They are great, I hunt him in them, they wash easily, never move and cover the whole of the lower leg. Good choice of colours. I got some on Ebay they seem to be on there a lot, mine are seconds simply because the labels are wrong, Perfect apart from that though!!

My cob never wore boots of any kind. She used to have everything on to travel in because she would trash them within seconds. At one point I was told by her owners to wear . . a sausage boot, a sportsmedicine boot, fibergee plus a bandage on her hinds. Then fibergee and a bandage on her fronts. She still trashed them.
I went without, and she stood like a rock.
The same for jumping . . if she wore boots (I did once) she knocked them. I didnt, and she would always be clear!
