I'm wanting to go xc schooling fairly soon. But having read about portable jumps and how dangerous they are, i obviously want to make sure i go somewhere safe.

If you know a place where the jumps are definitely secured correctly, or where they definitely are not, could you pm me please (don't want to get in trouble for having it on here)
if anyone knows about manor farm in howden and Thornton lodge xc id be especially interested as their the first id like to try

Manor Farm is fab with an amazing water complex. It's a pretty long course with about 40 jumps if I remember right. Epworth Equestrian is also a great course, not as long as Manor, about 28 fences but plenty of excellent jumps although the water is just a large puddle :) xx

Escrick Park has some nice jumps ranging from 50 cm-ish up to massive ones. I have only jumped the 7 smallest I could find there :) their website is good for ground condition info and the ladies in the office are super helpful. I think its £20 a day pass. All the jumps I have seen there which is prob 90% of them are fixed and well maintained.
