I have been hot tubbing my 17hh 4yr olds nearside fore this week as the farrier is coming out on Monday to rummage for an abcess

Bless him he has been a really good boy and taken to having his leg dunked in a bright blue trug filled with warm salty water

However this morning he had clearly had enough. He lashed out with his front leg

kicking my shin

before planting his foot on my toes

and then moments later he bit my hand

I was giving him a polo- obviously on a flat hand- but he literally got my whole hand in his mouth and crushed it

I think I detected the message that he doesn't like hot tubbing- Monty Roberts eat your heart out

Sounds like the hot water is doing its job and softening the abscess - it does hurt really badly before it bursts.

Have recently had a 2cm x 1cm abscess on my finger from a rose thorn and really know how painful it is.

Try Animalintex, a disposable nappy and duct tape to wrap it all onto the horses foot.
