Have a friend at the yard that owns an ex-trotter - had for nearly one year and about easter time started to have crossed front legged stretches every time untacked, really sunk nearly to the ground. Didn't think much of it, but now started to do this in the menage after all trot work (started trotting properly now) tonight he did it at least 10 times and also threw bucks in too when being worked?

Have had a recognised saddle lady come and fit new saddle and also osteo came about one month ago - Any ideas would be very much welcomed as owner is worrying now?

p.s. teeth checked and it is a nice horse (not nasty in any way).

As long as all the necessary back, teeth and saddle checks come back good, then it could just be a quirk.

Did the horse do it with the previous owner?

I have a friend who's horse does this everytime you bring her out of the stable. It was pretty alarming the first time I saw her do it.

But it's just her little 'thing'

I had a horse that used to do it when you got him out of the stable - he had his back checked and there was nothing wrong with him. I just figured he liked stretching. I wouldn't be too happy about him doing when he was being ridden though and that might be a bad manners thing. I would get the back checked in case and if he is OK not let him do it when being ridden. Does he pace or trot? Or did he use to pace and he now trots?
