I have lived in the Brecon Beacons National Park (BBNP), north of the A40 for 20 years now and I and many other riders have never been able to ride safely in the Brecon Beacons part of the Park yet. To get there I have to cross the combination of the A40 and river Usk, which can only be done where there is a bridge. This means riding on the A40 for quite a length. There is a possibility for a safe link between coming of the Allt to the picnic lay-by near Bwlch, riding on the verge of the A40 to the turn-off at Talybont-on-Usk. However, a horse was killed there when it spooked at some rubbish in the verge, into the carriageway, where it was hit by a car. I have been running a campaign to get safety fencing put up to separate this verge from the carriageway. I have been promised a feasibility study in August (this has been promised before and did not happen!) and would like as many riders as possible to write in and give their support to this project. I have the support of the BBNP, the Assembly member, MP and 3 councillors but need YOU to show that there is a demand.
