Hi,
Has anyone done the cross country course and farm ride at Crow Wood? Is there plenty to do for someone that doesn't want to jump big? Or maybe not jump at all?

I've been to Somerford a few times and love their farm ride but fancied trying Crow Wood as I've never been. However its a treat for me and my horse so I don't want to be disappointed. I want to use as a fun day out to have some good gallops and let my horse enjoy himself over some cross county jumps (although he hasn't done a lot of these yet so don't want to attempt anything too big!).

Thoughts?

Go to Kelsall Hill instead. Better going, smaller fences nice parking and people. Well worth it for jumpers or happy hackers

Hello...we have never been to crow wood so can not comment, have you been to the farm ride off the A6 ? Its only a fiver to go around it, we went and really enjoyed it.

White Hill Farm Ride...its not far past Barton, and also Broomhills...but suppose if you are based in Chorley Crow wood would prob be nearest to you...

Would honestly say it could disapoint if you are comparing to somerford.

The all weather gallop sand and rubber and is excellent but separate from the jumps, so is good for fitness work or a good blast. watch out for the deer!!

The xc jumps are around 2-3 fields, fair mix of styles but not always 2-3 versions of different size of the same jump but there are some nice inviting smaller ones. On a harder surfaced track. with a little water jump.

Hope that helps.

another vote for kelsall over crow wood...or maybe the craven ride? crow wood is a bit basic in my opinion and the jumps aren't especially well constructed and a lot are sited in silly places
