My doggy, (the one in siggy), had double cruciate ligament surgery in nov '07. It healed really well and you can't even see the scars now.
Tonight she is lame on left hind, i am really worried.
I am trying to think rationally, it can't happen again, as she now has no cruciate ligament. Hopefully she has just pulled a muscle with all her running around.
Has anyone any experience of any problems after having surgery? Can anything go wrong this long afterwards?

Was hoping one of the vets would answer first, im no expert, but they can go again, I have just had my rotti done, I work at the vets and my vets said it is possible but very slight chance, there are different methods of cruciate repair, my rotts was repaired with wire, but there are other techniques, as my boss explained the wire holds the rupture together until the damaged material repairs, but there is a chance of the wire snapping, not so detrimental once the tissue has repaired itself( hope that makes sense)

I would get her checked, she may have strained it, but obs there is a possibility it's bust again

Your repair may be more sophisticated

suppose it depends on which the vet in question prefers and the results they get.

My rottie has had both done but no lameness since. It may be something and nothing but give your vet a c all to put tyour mind at. ease

thanks both, mine was done with the meccano type thing, i forget the name it is very state of the art though. I gave her some reiki last night and she seems fine today, not lame at all. Hopefully it was just a wee muscle strain. I will keep an eye on her though.

My JRT had hers done 3yrs this year and it's only really last year that she's been able to exercise properly without becoming lame. I don't know if that's normal or just her. Her ligament was replaced with a nylon one. I'd ask your vet as cala and mattilda have said.
