Talking to someone last week who said that after Crufts there are often dogs left behind - didn't win, not good enough so the owners go home without them.

I couldn't believe this, aren't all dogs microchipped and the owners traced?

LOL what a laughable rumour.

No, not all dogs are chipped or necessarily traceable. But if that was a real story, it'd have been all over the papers in March.

Never heard anything so ridiculous in my life. I've shown at crufts every year for 15 years and even stopped to watch groups etc and have never seen dogs left behind. Occasionally dogs may be left on spare benches whilst the owners other dogs are shown in the group but they will be collected after the judging is finished. After all every dog has had to qualify to be compete at crufts regardless of discipline so they are all winners.

It would be like saying horses are left behind at hoys cause they are not good enough. Just being able to enter and compete is bragging rights enough!
