Crying shame

[ QUOTE ]
At a court hearing on Wednesday, a magistrate accepted the dogs were mongrels.

Dismissing the charges, he said the animals were owned by a "loving and caring lady".

[/ QUOTE ]

So, the lady loses her pets for a year, one ends up dead and nobody will be held to account. Not that it would help much as she's had to have her dog pts. Criminal.

I know, and then blamed the woman, poor dogs (12 months!!) and poor woman. They did look like a dangerous breed but I dont understand why 12months? They were only 7months old too..

Because thats how long it probaly took for the case to be heard in court, the very quickest, simplest cases can take 6months before they are heard.

I also thought the article said the dogs were together. I know the dog warden where I work would keep dogs who had lived togther in the same kennel, they would also be regulary handled and exercised by proffessional dog handlers. I read that the dogs were separated because one had become agressive towards the other, not that the dogs became agressive because they were separated. Perhaps in this case it was a good call - if the agression began to show as the bitch matured and they had been in the public domain it may have been a totaly different thread on here!

It is extremely sad, but we have to allow the proffessionals to do their job. There is know way the dog warden would have taken those dogs without a good cause they have too much work to do to without being jobsworths.

sorry but the dogs were given back, there was no complaint of aggression etc before, just that they looked like they were dangerous dogs
Perhaps the bitch did not like kennels?

Mabe they didnt like kennels. The issue is, if the dog warden had reason to think these dogs were pitbulls, or pitbull type he/she was obliged to take action.

I dont think they were pitbulls but staffie types. That's all well and good but I still fail to see why 12months in kennels???

What I find strange is that she had it PTS 24hours after getting it back. How can she have expected the dog to re-adjust within 24hours after being kennelled for 12 months?

Unless it reacted very, very badly.

Edit to reword
