CSIs including a GP win for Rob Hoekstra

All 4 British riders go in the 2nd round of the Estoril Grand Prix. Most unusually Frank Rothenberger set too easy a course for the 1st round so there were 23 clears. Tim Gredley was fastest with Omelli (ggod to see this horse back in action) so goes last in the 2nd round. Those of you with Eurosport will soon be able to watch it.

Weather in Geesteren impoved so we should be able to see the Grand Prix there via www.paardensport.tv tomorrow afternoon.

Rob Hoekstra won this afternoon's Grand Prix (1.40m) in Santander with Remus, and fellow Brits Mandy Goosen and Jane Davies were also in the money.

Tim Gredley was 5th AND Ben Maher 8th in Estoril. And I hope quadro was bloody well watching as she is always whinging she doesnt see me, well I was on there tonight!!

Where is Rob Hoekstra based these days? He used to be next door to me in Tunbridge Wells but I have moved..

I guess it's somewhere in Spain as of late, he has been riding for Spanish owners. I did see him walking the course with people here 3 or 4 years ago.

i was privileged enough to watch a Rob Hoekstra clinic many years ago, and was SO impressed by his riding and his amazing attitude. i hope he has a good string of horses now and starts getting the results he deserves.

Fine rider and trainer. Just hope he gets to keep this ride - he previously rode Rancorrado whish is now with Cian O'Connor.

As far as i know he is still living at Went Farm in Speldhurst although the stables have long since been converted to offices. He commutes to Spain regularly and seems to ride for an outfit called Hippica Mediterranea based in Majorca and for another set of owners based on mainland Spain. As far as i know he doesn't have any 'string' of horses as such...just seems to catch rides here and there....expect to see Remus 194 sold for a lot opf money shortly lol!

I haven't spoken to Rob since 2005...but he was just as effective a coach then as he was way back in the 80's
