Cub saddle mending handle!

Wese a cub saddle for my 2 year old grand daughter but today the cord through the handle broke and I can't see anyway to mend it. Anyone managed to mend one?

could you make loops at either end with the old cord and then thread a new cord through it?

hard to describe......

One side has got nothingnow, it is only a few months old but it had rubbed as it comes out of the pommel. so no cord on one side to attach anything
