Cubbing/Autumn Hunting with OSB&WK/Eridge

Can anyone tell me when Autumn hunting starts with these 2 packs?

When 'proper' hunting starts?

Is it all about mega early starts?

And what is the fee/cap for a non subscriber? And am I allowed to go as a non subscriber as certainly can't afford to join?

Is it fast/slow?

I want to take a youngster, who has never seen hounds, hunted or done anything like it before. Would like to start her off slowly. I've hunted, but not for a couple of years and not been that often

Cubbing normally starts in the end of August but would not be something that members would turn up freely for,this hunting is the backbone of getting your young hounds hunting well and and for this the hunt staff would need as much consentration as possible,not to be worring about the field

Members would NORMALLY be invited out,depending on hunt policies.

Cub hunting is early starts for best scenting conditions just after day break.

Most hunts normal season starts in the last couple of weeks in october,again depending on the hunt country,polices etc.
 
It may be different in Ireland Madhossy, but I hunt with neighbours of the OSB&WK/Eridge and people are encouraged to come Autumn Hunting from the moment it begins, which is end of August/beginning of September. Members and subscribers are free and there is a £20 charge for non-members.
Autumn hunting is a time for young hounds, young horses, young children and also old horses who are not up to proper hunting any longer. A time for early mornings and spectacular dawns. Get yourself along!
Give the secretary a ring, I'm sure you would be most welcome.

Yes as i said each hunt/policies are different,its a great time of year to young kids out,but make sure to have them well looked after.

As said it depends on their country also,sometimes the best cub hunting country is hunted on foot or with very few members as it may be tight or difficult to get around farmers,its just sometimes best to have a small amount of helpfull members around you.

As above if you contact your secretary and they will tell you all you need to know.

This has been my experience as well. When I moved back to this area 18 months ago, I called the Sec of the pack I'd been out with years before (ie, before I moved away with work) to chat about hunting and she immediately suggested hound exercise and cubbing. I went to HE, chatted to one of the Joint Masters and both Sec's, all of whom said because I had a new horse (new to me, not new to hunting) then I should try to get out cubbing as often as possible to see if I enjoyed him and to decide whether I wanted to take him hunting proper. I wasn't (and still am not, as horse not sound enough to hunt now though he may manage a few short day's cubbing this season) a subscriber but cubbing was free until 1st Oct then £10 for non-subscribers.
