this is just a quiery really, are cubes essential to feed?okso mine is on spillers cond cubes atm, and i was just wondering if i really need them. would it make a difference if i changed it to a weight gain mix instead?although i am also on topspec cond flakes, so i guess you cant feed two different sorts of weight gain mixes at the same time. was just wondering because i know that the cubes dont do a lot for him.

No reason at all that you have to feed a cube within your horses ration, and there is no real harm to be done by feeding two different conditioning mixes, there is just not much point. You are better to just find a feed that works for him and feed it at the manufacturers recommended weight for his height and build. That way you know you are giving him all the vitamins and nutrients he needs and that it is balanced for him. If you just give him a bit of one then some of another you cannot be certain that he is getting everything he needs.
Also though, just note that some horses get a bit more on thier toes on mixes than they do on a cube, so it may be that a cube would suit him better anyway?
