Can you ride in a pelham without one?

I'm showing tomorrow and have brought the bridle home for cleaning minus the curb chain. I'm hoping it's just dropped off outside the stable and I'll be able to find it in the morning! :(

It would be incorrect. You need to get a lipstrap, that way it cant fall off and get lost. (and its also more correct :o)

If its a fairly big show, there might be a stall there where you can buy one in the morning :)

Technically, yes, the curb chain just provides action on an additional pressure point.

As said above, it's not "correct" as such. I suppose it depends how much attention the judge pays as to whether they notice.

I've checked with the people who run the stall and they don't have any :(

Never used a lip strap haha, you learn something new everyday!

Not really especially if your showing judge would think it looked odd but depends what class you are in, hope you find it, im always dropping mine but it tends to turn up ;)

I don't think it would go down too well tbh. I would also get a lip strap, as it is also more correct and means that you can't loose the curb chain (although they are horrid to clean ) The other thing for future referance is to have a spare hanging around at home (I've just found my spare curb chain on the arm of my chair :D)

The curb chain also stops the bit from over-rotating in the horse's mouth. Is there no one at your yard that you can borrow one from?

Good luck for the show.
