My trotter mare managed to strike her knee with her hind foot whilst working out on Wednesday. Needless to say the knee has swollen up to the size of a football. Have cold hosed it for 2 days almost 24/7 but with no result. She is due to race on Tuesday. Has anyone any miracle cures?

Have you had the vet look at it? If the swelling isnt going down then its likely shes done some damage.I certainly wouldnt be racing her on Tuesday with a big knee

MIRACLE CURE!!!!

1. Get the vet out to assess and for anti inflammatories/antibiotics.
2. Rest the horse for at least a week.
3. Dont take any risks with a joint injury as infections in the joint can kill a horse.
4. Dont race your horse on Tuesday.

Sorry if this sounds a bit hard, but if someone kicked you in the knee and it swelled up to football size - would you want to run a race??? Afraid you probably should bite the bullet and get the vet to take a look!
