Curious Eye (issue?)

This is a pony I see almost daily (from a distance). Today she was quite close and her left eye looked odd. Took a picture and found a contact for the owner, so sent picture to them. Apparently the eye has been removed.

Does it look ‘right’ though? I’ve only seen an eye removal whereby the socket was empty and closed up? I had initially thought she had an infection/major irritation.

When my pony had an eye removed it was a hollow clean socket with his normal hair.
So no, I think that looks odd

Was trying to think how it was straight away but it was still just normal skin and hair with a neat stitch line. They stitch the eyelids together and over time it sinks in. So no need for nastiness at all.

That looks like "lost an eye" and the socket has filled up with granulous tissue rather than a surgical eye removal.

That needs something doing imo - a fly mask at the very least

I agree, my horse had an eye removed and the eyelids were sewn shut. This does not look like it has been removed surgically.
